Description
History of C.P.GOERZ. BERLIN Hypergon 75mm lens
Hypergon was originally produced by C.P.GOERZ, in 1900s, which is the first ultrawide lens with flat imaging field, low distortion, with super-fast speed (comparing to pinhole). It’s a milestone in ultrawide landscape photographic, and still the widest large format lens 100 years after its launching.
It’s quite hard to find a Hypergon in good condition. This reproduction is based on a first version Hypergon with lots of upgradations. Although it’s marked as C.P.GOERZ. BERLIN. , it’s not a C.P.GOERZ. BERLIN product. C.P.GOERZ. was sold to Zeiss Ikon AG after WWI and itself no longer exist after WWII. Current C.P.GOERZ is held by C.P. Goerz American Optical Company, which is held by Schneider Optics, differing from C.P.GOERZ. BERLIN. Also, the D.R.P No. 126500 was the original Hypergon patent, which is expired after WWII.
Details about the reproduction
The reproduction seems identical to the original one but not the same. We’ve did some slightly change on screw dimensions so you will not get a fake original Hypergon at high price. Here are some upgradations on reproduction to the original one.
The lens will come with a linhof-type lens board and 0.5m black silicon tube. Here’s a reference for mounting holes. We’ve also provided cad files for other type of lens boards so that it could fit your camera.
